BIRTH DOULA PACKAGE | $1500

I believe all parents-to-be should have access to professional birth support. Please let me know if this payment is not feasible for you without causing financial hardship. I am happy to work out a payment amount or schedule that works for you.

Sasha, Myla (10), and new baby Margot. Shared with permission.

When we work together, you and your partner will get the following support:

  • A complementary first meeting, usually over Zoom, so we can get to know each other and ensure I’m the right fit to support you in the coming months

  • Two prenatal meetings at around 34 and 37 weeks:

    • 34 weeks: A group prenatal held over Zoom with the A Brighter Birth doula group to meet potential back-up doulas (if the need were to arise!), discuss when to call your doula during labor, and to review prodromal and early labor signs and support

    • 37 weeks: An in-person prenatal at your house or location of your choice to answer any questions or concerns; review what to expect during labor, birth, and the early postpartum period; ensure you understand what your options will be during labor; support you in finalizing your birth preferences; and most importantly, to hear what’s on your mind as your birth approaches

  • On call for you 24/7 beginning at 38 weeks until baby is born

  • Regular contact and coaching during early labor, joining you when you’re ready for an extra level of support - at your home, or at the hospital/birth center - your choice

  • Physical comfort, emotional support, guidance for you and your partner, information or options to help you make decisions that keep you feeling empowered throughout your birth experience

  • Remain with you for at least one to two hours postpartum to assist with initiating breastfeeding and address other postpartum questions and needs

  • One postpartum visit at your home within the first week or two to process your birth and answer newborn care questions

Plus:

  • As much communication as you’d like throughout your pregnancy

  • Education including stages and phases of labor, labor positions, counter pressure techniques, breathing and relaxation techniques, non-medical pain-relief options, and more

  • 10% off any classes offered through A Brighter Birth

  • Health, nutrition, and well-being education and tips

  • Encouragement, reassurance, and guidance

  • Recommendations on other support and resources in the community, including the A Brighter Birth collective

  • Support for your partner, or any other people on your birth team to ensure they are able to play an active role in labor and birth

  • Encouragement to use your voice and advocate for yourself - to ask questions and speak up for your individual birth goals

  • My friendship and support as a fellow parent forever

Sliding scale q&A

Why offer a sliding scale?

I believe all parents-to-be deserve the support of a doula in planning for and experiencing their births. For some, planning for a doula is an expected cost, budgeted for in pregnancy. For some, that cost requires some saving and sacrifice. And for others, the cost makes doula services prohibitive.

I do not believe cost should be the deciding factor in a person’s ability to access doula care. This is why I offer my services on a sliding scale. A sliding scale is a tool for equity and economic justice, allowing those who are financially able to pay full price for services, those who would be making a sacrifice to pay less, and those who are experiencing financial hardship to pay the least.

To learn more about the idea behind Sliding Scales, see this really informative piece from Alexis J. Cunningfolk of Worts & Cunning Apothecary in Sacramento, CA.

How do you decide which tier I will be in?

Sliding Scales are founded on trust, just as our relationship as doula and birthing person will be. I trust that you know your economic reality, and therefore leave the decision for your payment amount to you. I will never ask you for income verification.

How can I decide which tier I will be in?

To help you understand where you fall on the Sliding Scale, see The Green Bottle visual below, created by Alexis J. Cunningfolk www.wortsandcunning.com.
